PDS and Pond View were both part of the Dean Mathey estate known as Pretty Brook Farm. Mr. Mathey acquired the property in the 1930’s, and constructed the ponds in part so that his sons would have a place to skate in the winter. He left most of the property to Princeton Country Day School (later PDS) as a future school site when he died, and a large part of it was later sold for the development of Pond View (a residential housing development).
